Senator introduces bill to strengthen protections for elderly

SACRAMENTO—Senator Lois Wolk (D-Davis), a longtime advocate for the protection of seniors in California, introduced legislation this week to strengthen the state ombudsman program that works to protect residents in long-term care facilities.

Wolk honored as Legislator of the Year by the California Park & Recreation Society

California Park and Recreation Society announced today that they named Senator Lois Wolk as their Legislator of the Year.

“I’m honored to receive this award. Local parks are a vital part of neighborhoods, offering healthy recreational opportunities to all Californians, and the professionals at the Parks and Recreation Society work hard to ensure access with scarce dollars,” said Wolk.

SACRAMENTO—The Senate Natural Resources and Water Committee voted 5-3 this week to approve legislation by Senator Lois Wolk (D-Davis) to reduce the state’s reliance on freshwater from the fragile Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta watershed.
