MARTINEZ -- Loaves and Fishes of Contra Costa has fought food insecurity for nearly 40 years, serving more than five million free, hot and nutritious meals and groceries to those in need. NAPA – For three decades, Hands Across The Valley has been raising money for Napa County’s safety net food programs, connecting generous donors to programs such as Meals on Wheels and the Napa Valley Food Bank, ensuring vulnerable seniors, families and children do not go hungry. In recognition of its important work for the community, Hands Across The Valley has been named Napa County Nonprofit of the Year by Sen. Bill Dodd.

SACRAMENTO – The Senate has unanimously approved legislation from Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, that would allow the city of Davis to help create endangered species preserves and support climate mitigation projects.

“This approval is a big step toward preserving endangered species and our precious environment,” Sen. Dodd said. “It is a smart use of public land, in keeping with the wishes of Davis voters, to protect and enhance our community for generations to come.”

Nancy Skinner, D-Berkeley, that would outlaw hidden charges on purchases – also known as junk fees --  ensuring consumers are not exposed to deceptive business practices that add unfair costs.
