VALLEJO – Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, will host an open house Aug. 2 at his Vallejo district office with U.S. Rep. John Garamendi.

The in-person event is an opportunity for the public to meet Sen. Dodd and Rep. Garamendi, discuss key issues in the North Bay and learn about state and federal services.

SACRAMENTO – Gov. Gavin Newsom has signed legislation from Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, in partnership with Secretary of State Shirley Weber, to increase transparency in presidential elections, helping to ensure the integrity of the democratic process.

“Now more than ever, we must ensure our presidential elections are fair and transparent,” Sen. Dodd said.  “With Gov. Newsom’s signing of my bill, we protect the free election process that has become a bulwark of democracy. In a time of rising polarization and division, it will bring additional safeguards to this important tradition.”

SACRAMENTO – Legislation has advanced from Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, that would allow the continuation of 50-50 raffles at major league sports stadiums – an important fundraising tool for nonprofits.

“This bill supporting charitable raffles provides an important funding tool for a host of organizations benefiting youth and the underserved,” Sen. Dodd said. “Over the years, these raffles have raised millions for a diverse group of charitable organizations throughout the state. This approval is a step toward ensuring that continues.”

SACRAMENTO – Legislation advanced from Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, that would place limits on the amount of money that can be donated to candidates for school boards and special district offices, ensuring fairness in local elections.

“My bill puts a cap on donations to ensure fairness while encouraging a more diverse field that is more reflective of the population,” Sen. Dodd said. “Getting big money out of elections for smaller community offices is essential. These well-financed campaigns favor the wealthy at the exclusion of grassroots candidates and people of color.”

Gavin Newsom of  his 100th bill – a measure to boost participation and diversity on California city councils by allowing the first council pay cap increases in nearly four decades, bringing salaries more in line with the cost of living.

Gavin Newsom on California’s 2023-24 budget, which passed the Assembly and Senate today. The budget bills pay for statewide services including education, wildfire prevention and public transit, and provides an additional $10 million for North Bay projects.
