About SB 810
Every year, health insurance premiums grow an astounding four times faster than wages, crushing California’s economy while forcing steep annual cuts in health care access and quality for Californians and their employers.
Senate Bill 810 establishes a modern universal health care system that provides every California resident with comprehensive benefits for life, containing the growth in health care spending and ensuring patient-centered, high quality health care for all Californians. The plan is fully funded with the money we already spend on health care. It eliminates wasteful insurance overhead, invests in electronic infrastructure that improves quality while reducing cost, emphasizes prevention and primary health care, and utilizes California’s purchasing power to realize savings on prescriptions and medical equipment.
SB 810 is supported by a broad coalition of patients, nurses, doctors, teachers and school employees, retired workers, local city councils, school districts and many others.
