Assemblymember Dodd responds to Governor’s Inaugural Address

Monday, January 5, 2015

SACRAMENTO – Assemblymember Bill Dodd (D-Napa) issued the following statement today on the Governor’s Inaugural Address:

“I appreciate Governor Brown’s readiness to work with the Legislature to meet the challenges facing our state as he embarks on his unprecedented fourth term.

Over the last four years, California has made meaningful progress towards addressing some of our state’s toughest issues. We have seen over 1.3 million jobs created and our unemployment rate fall nearly 5 percent. This progress is encouraging, but as the Governor acknowledged, there is still much work to be done.

The Governor’s address covered many of the challenges we still face, including California’s $59 billion in deferred road and infrastructure maintenance, the need to invest in improving our education system, and the pursuit of environmental and fiscal sustainability.

I look forward to working with Governor Brown and my colleagues in the Legislature to advance the progress that has been made, while thoughtfully addressing the challenges we face.

Assemblymember Bill Dodd represents the 4th Assembly District, which includes all or portions of Yolo, Napa, Sonoma, Lake, Solano, and Colusa Counties.
