Senate Approves Four Bills from Sen. Dodd

Thursday, January 6, 2022

SACRAMENTO – As the first week of the 2022 legislative year unfolded, the Senate today approved four bills from Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, that would address a range of issues important to Californians.

“From encouraging conservation to getting support for those facing student hunger, we are rolling up our sleeves for the people of this state,” Sen. Dodd said. “There is still much to work to be done but I’m happy to say we’re off to a good start.”

The Senate gave its unanimous, bipartisan support to four bills first introduced by Sen. Dodd last year at the start of the two-year session. Each of the bills has been approved by Senate committees and moves on for Assembly consideration. They are:

SB 20 Student Hunger: Improves system for getting Cal Fresh food aid to low-income college students, ensuring the underserved population has adequate nutrition.

SB 216 Worker Protection: Ensures contractors comply with California’s workers’ compensation laws to safeguard employees with on-the-job injury.

SB 370 Sustainable Habitats: Conserves and restores big game habitats through public-private partnerships with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.

SB 717 Rehabilitation Equipment: Improves access to custom rehabilitation equipment for people with medical conditions or disabilities.

“Sen. Dodd is wasting no time tackling some of the pressing issues of the day,” Napa County Supervisor Alfredo Pedroza said. “I look forward to another productive year.”
