Sen. Dodd Comments on California Insurance Reform
SACRAMENTO – Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, issued the following statement today regarding insurance marketplace rate reforms implemented by Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara that were called for in Gov. Gavin Newsom’s May budget revision:
“This is an important step forward, and Commissioner Lara and Gov. Newsom deserve credit for being proactive,” said Sen. Dodd. “Business as usual is clearly not working, so we need reforms that increase efficiency while safeguarding policyholders. The availability and affordability of property insurance is a multifaceted problem, but this is a necessary part. I look forward to seeing this advance as we continue complimentary work on reducing wildfire risks and holding insurers accountable for writing policies in communities across California.”
