SACRAMENTO – With wildfires threatening new rounds of public safety power shutoffs across the state, the Legislature today approved a bill from Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, that would help local governments fund emergency operations centers during the planned power outages.

SACRAMENTO – A bill from Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, to extend a pilot program in Napa and San Bernardino counties that helps prevent urban sprawl and protects natural resources has cleared the Legislature today and heads to Gov. Gavin Newsom for his signature.

“Today we’ve taken a step toward preserving agricultural land and open space in Napa County,” Sen. Dodd said. “I appreciate support for this commonsense measure that will extend necessary services while reducing the need for new wells or septic systems.”

SONOMA – Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, will host a virtual town hall Aug. 16 on wildfire and emergency preparedness featuring Mark Ghilarducci, director of the California Office of Emergency Services and Marybel Batjer, president of the California Public Utilities Commission.

Panelists will focus on the statewide response to California’s wildfires including improvements to public safety power shutoffs, evacuations and more resilient emergency communications.

SONOMA – With the goal of reducing plastic waste, Jana Wang, co-owner of Refill Madness Sonoma, opened her shop during the pandemic, giving customers a safe place to fill their own containers with household goods such as soaps and lotions. For her effort to keep tons of plastic from local landfills, her store has been named Sonoma County Small Business of the Year for 2021 by Sen. Bill Dodd.
