NAPA – With the growing threat of climate-driven wildfires and drought, Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, announced today he has secured $9 million for projects across Napa County to ramp up fire prevention, improve water delivery systems and also assist with after-school programs.
“There’s no doubt our warming climate is driving more devastating wildfires and contributing to our record drought,” Sen. Dodd. “That’s why I am happy to secure the funds for these projects, which address the threats head-on. They make our community safer and improve quality of life for all. At the same time, we must continue to support our most valuable asset – our children – who benefit greatly from these critical services.”
“We are grateful for Sen. Dodd’s ever continuing attention to his constituents, and their many and varied needs,” said Napa County Supervisor Diane Dillon. “Major projects that benefit vast numbers of residents and businesses in smaller counties like ours in particular require this kind of state assistance to get to the finish line.”
“This budget makes sound investments at the state level while providing critical funding for our local community,” Supervisor Alfredo Pedroza said. “Thanks to Sen. Dodd for his leadership in securing this vital funding that will enhance local fire protection and water infrastructure, and support our youth.”
In the state budget passed June 29, Sen. Dodd secured a total of $29 million for projects in his six-county Senate District 3 including the $9 million for Napa County projects alone. Separately, Sen. Dodd advocated for investments in community college student housing, making Napa Valley College eligible for about $30 million in funding.
The $9 million in Napa County projects are as follows:
