Sen. Dodd Responds to FAIR Plan Expansion

SACRAMENTO – Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, issued the following statement today in response to the approval by California Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara of new coverage options for farms and agricultural businesses under the FAIR Plan:

“I appreciate the tireless work of Insurance Commissioner Lara in getting the necessary filings from the FAIR Plan and approving this as soon as they had the required documents,” Sen. Dodd said. “This is a critical lifeline for farmers and agriculture, and I look forward to working with the commissioner to build on this success in ensuring affordability and availability of insurance.”

Commissioner Lara’s action follows the passage last year of Senate Bill 11, co-authored by Sen. Dodd, which allowed FAIR Plan coverage to extend to farms. SB 11 was signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom in July.
