Sen. Dodd Comments on State Revenue Forecast

Friday, December 1, 2023

SACRAMENTO – Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, issued the following statement today on a new revenue forecast from the Legislative Analyst’s Office that anticipates a larger-than-expected shortfall in the current year and a $58 billion budget gap going forward:

“This gloomy, updated revenue forecast underscores the importance of responsible budgeting and fiscal restraint,” said Sen. Dodd. “While there’s always room for improvement, we’ve made prudent investments in rainy day funds and debt reduction to better enable us to meet budget challenges than ever before. As the revenue picture evolves over the coming months, my priority is to continue supporting critical services and investments while achieving a balanced budget.”
