Friday, April 19, 2024

FAIRFIELD – Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, issued the following statement today regarding the “Prohousing Designation” from Gov. Gavin Newsom, recognizing the city of Fairfield as being among the 10 latest communities statewide to have accelerated housing production:

“I applaud Fairfield for its excellent work in responding to our housing crisis,” Sen. Dodd said. “The big steps the city has taken to ensure we meet our construction goals is a model for other communities to follow. This is the kind of leadership we need to solve our statewide housing shortage. Congratulations for receiving this important recognition.”

The Prohousing Designation Program is part of a package of incentives and accountability measures established by the 2019-20 Budget Act. By earning the Prohousing Designation, communities receive exclusive access to pro-housing grants and additional points in the scoring of competitive housing, community development, and infrastructure funding programs administered by the Department of Housing and Community Development.
