SONOMA – Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, will host a virtual town hall Aug. 16 on wildfire and emergency preparedness featuring Mark Ghilarducci, director of the California Office of Emergency Services and Marybel Batjer, president of the California Public Utilities Commission.

Panelists will focus on the statewide response to California’s wildfires including improvements to public safety power shutoffs, evacuations and more resilient emergency communications.

SONOMA – With the goal of reducing plastic waste, Jana Wang, co-owner of Refill Madness Sonoma, opened her shop during the pandemic, giving customers a safe place to fill their own containers with household goods such as soaps and lotions. For her effort to keep tons of plastic from local landfills, her store has been named Sonoma County Small Business of the Year for 2021 by Sen. Bill Dodd.

SACRAMENTO – Legislation from Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, to assist restaurants struggling to recover from the pandemic by making permanent a temporary order to allow the sale of to-go cocktails as part of take-out and delivery food orders cleared a key committee today.

“Allowing restaurants to sell carry-out cocktails has been a lifeline for an industry that is struggling to keep its doors open,” Sen. Dodd said. “My bill will help preserve jobs and get our economy back on track. Thanks to my Assembly colleagues for supporting this important proposal.”
