North Bay legislators to hold forum on Sonoma State Monday
Legislative leaders to hold public forum on Sonoma State’s recovery plan
Sacramento (April 9, 2025) North Bay Legislative leaders will hold a second community forum on the future of Sonoma State University at 2 p.m. April 14. The forum will give the community, Sonoma State and California State University representatives, students and faculty the opportunity to share their perspectives on the “Bridge to the Future” released by Sonoma State on April 7.
Sonoma State faces a $24 million deficit budget and earlier this year announced a proposal to eliminate administrative and faculty positions, classes, degree programs, and its entire NCAA Division II Athletics program. At a public forum in February, North Bay legislators directed the university to produce a “comeback plan”.
The university’s “Bridge to the Future” plan falls short of the legislative delegation’s expectations as laid out at the first hearing.
