NAPA -- Diane Dillon, a longtime champion of Napa County who served on the Board of Supervisors for 20 years, compiling an impressive record of civic achievement, has been named Napa County Woman of the Year by Sen. Bill Dodd.

SACRAMENTO -- Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, issued the following statement today regarding Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara’s proposed catastrophic modeling regulations to address California’s insurance crisis:

“Ensuring the availability and affordability of insurance takes a multipronged approach, and these proposed regulations are a piece of the puzzle,” Sen. Dodd said. “There’s much to do to stabilize the market, and I thank Commissioner Lara for moving on multiple fronts to tackle the issue.”

VALLEJO – A. Marie Young, a longtime Solano Community College board member and mathematics professor who broke barriers in the 1970s as the first African American woman to teach an academic course full-time at the college, has been selected Solano County Woman of the Year by Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa.

SACRAMENTO – Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, has introduced a resolution designating March as Problem Gambling Awareness Month in an effort to bring attention to an addiction affecting more than a million Californians and connect people with treatment.

WEST SACRAMENTO – Rhonda Morningstar Pope Flores, chair of the Buena Vista Rancheria of Me-Wuk Indians, has played a central role in improving services for Native Americans and residents of West Sacramento, most recently opening the Bryte and Broderick Community Center. For her many community contributions, she has been named Yolo County Woman of the Year by Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa.

MARTINEZ – Rebecca Barrett, president of the Contra Costa County Community College District board and champion of public education, the underserved and first-generation college students, has been named Contra Costa County Woman of the Year by Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa.
