SACRAMENTO – Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, today announced Gov. Gavin Newsom has signed his measure to enhance wildfire safety by improving standards for creation of defensible space.
“This new law will save lives by improving on my previous legislation on defensible space,” said Sen. Dodd. “With more destructive and frequent wildfires, we must take every opportunity to protect ourselves and our communities. One of the best things we can do is to clear the space around our homes of combustible brush and other flammable material.”

Gavin Newsom has signed his legislation that would help address chronic police staffing shortages in Vallejo by allowing qualified, retired law enforcement officers to work up to full-time for the Solano County Sheriff’s Office, providing the additional deputies needed to aid Vallejo during the staffing emergency.
