SACRAMENTO – On Wednesday, the California State Legislature approved a bill by Senator Bill Dodd (D-Napa) to protect victims of mass fraud and identity theft. The bill, co-authored by Assemblymember Matt Dababneh (D-Woodland Hills), was introduced in response to the Wells Fargo scandal where millions of accounts were fraudulently opened without consent, using consumer’s personal information from existing accounts.

Representatives of the home building organization were hosted on the Floor of the California State Senate by Senator Dodd. Co-authored by Assemblymember Cecilia Aguiar-Curry (D-Winters), this legislation allows grapegrowers to increase their self-assessment fee to help bolster funds for farmworker housing.

Dodd’s bill was introduced in response to the recent Wells Fargo scandal where millions of accounts were fraudulently opened without consent, using consumer’s personal information from preexisting accounts.

A bill by Senator Bill Dodd (D-Napa) to protect victims of mass fraud and identity theft cleared a key vote today in the Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday. Dodd’s bill was introduced in response to the recent Wells Fargo scandal where millions of accounts were fraudulently opened without consent, using consumer’s personal information from existing accounts. The legislation, co-sponsored by California State Treasurer John Chiang, would give victims their day in court by preventing financial institutions from using forced arbitration clauses in cases where they perpetrated fraud.

SACRAMENTO – A bill by Senator Bill Dodd (D-Napa) to add media literacy to school curriculums passed a key vote in the Senate Education Committee on Wednesday. A rise in fake news was widely noted during the most recent Presidential election, where hoax websites deceived visitors with deceptive headlines and false facts. Media literacy is the ability to analyze and evaluate information consumed from various media sources such as websites, social networking sites, television, print and radio.

SACRAMENTO – Senator Bill Dodd (D-Napa) and Senator Mike McGuire (D-Healdsburg) have been appointed co-chairs on the Senate Select Committee on California’s Wine Industry. The committee is made up of a bipartisan group of Senators from around the state who are charged with overseeing the diverse issues affecting California’s wine industry. 

Sacramento –  Yesterday Senators Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco) and Bill Dodd (D-Napa) introduced a resolution in the State Senate calling for Congress to form a bipartisan, independent commission to investigate any connections between President Donald Trump and Russia. This includes appointing a special prosecutor to investigate any connection between President Trump’s administration, presidential campaign, or his business empire, and the Russian government or related business interests.

SACRAMENTO –Senator Bill Dodd (D-Napa) recently introduced new legislation to support public libraries by giving local communities more flexibility to approve library bonds. 

“Our public libraries provide critical services to our state, educating future generations, promoting lifelong learning and providing cultural enrichment,” said Senator Bill Dodd. “That’s why we need to empower local communities to better maintain and expand the accessibility and capacity at their public libraries.”

SACRAMENTO, CA – Senator Bill Dodd (D-Napa) and Assemblymember Cecilia Aguiar-Curry (D-Winters) partnered to introduce a pair of bills on Monday to support Napa County’s farmworker housing centers. The bills would allow grapegrowers to increase their annual self-imposed assessment that helps pay for local farmworker housing, while opening new state funding opportunities.
