SACRAMENTO – Senator Bill Dodd (D-Napa) and Assemblymember Jim Frazier (D-Discovery Bay) will hold a town hall on Thursday, Nov. 30 to examine the proposed WaterFix project and discuss related concerns, including recent findings by the State Auditor. The town hall will be held at the Jean Harvie Community Center, 14273 River Road, in Walnut Grove, from 10 am. to noon. Members of the public are invited to attend.

Dear Neighbor,

This morning, Governor Brown issued an emergency proclamation for Napa and Sonoma Counties due to the effects of multiple fires, including the Tubbs and Atlas fires, which have damaged critical infrastructure, threatened thousands of homes and caused the evacuation of residents.

My thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by the fires. Like so many of our neighbors, I was forced to evacuate my home this morning, and I will be monitoring the status of these fires closely.

SACRAMENTO – On Wednesday, California Governor Jerry Brown signed a bill by Senator Bill Dodd (D-Napa) to protect victims of mass fraud and identity theft. The bill was introduced in response to the Wells Fargo scandal where millions of accounts were fraudulently opened without consent, using personal consumers information from existing accounts. This new law eliminates the use of forced arbitration clauses in contracts that were fraudulently created by financial institutions, giving victims their day in court.

SACRAMENTO – Senator Bill Dodd’s (D-Napa) resolution naming the third week of September as Child Passenger Safety Week in California passed the State Legislature with bipartisan support. Dodd’s resolution recognizes that fatal vehicle collisions account for 25 percent of injury deaths for children.

“America is a nation of immigrants. California is a state of immigrants. Ten percent of our state’s workforce is undocumented. These are our family, friends, neighbors, and colleagues. And the most vulnerable among the undocumented are our young people. These are the people brought to this country while still children. We must support DACA and these Dreamers. They were raised in the United States. Some have no memory of the land of their birth. Some don’t even know they are undocumented until they apply for a college loan or a job.

The bill, co-authored by Assemblymember Matt Dababneh (D-Woodland Hills), was introduced in response to the Wells Fargo scandal where millions of accounts were fraudulently opened without consent, using consumer’s personal information from existing accounts.

SACRAMENTO, CA – The Solano-Napa Habitat for Humanity was honored recently as the 2017 Nonprofit of the Year by Senator Bill Dodd. Representatives of the home building organization were hosted on the Floor of the California State Senate by Senator Dodd. The local nonprofit was joined by other nonprofit leaders from Senate districts across the state that were also honored at the 2017 California Nonprofits Day event.

SACRAMENTO, CA – The state Legislature passed a bill by Senator Bill Dodd (D-Napa) aimed at bolstering funds for Napa County’s farmworker housing centers. Co-authored by Assemblymember Cecilia Aguiar-Curry (D-Winters), this legislation allows grapegrowers to increase their self-assessment fee to help bolster funds for farmworker housing.
