Monday, March 14, 2016

SACRAMENTO, CA – Solano County Supervisor Linda Seifert was honored Monday in the state Capitol as the 2016 Woman of the Year for the 4th Assembly District. Every year, the state Assembly honors one woman from each of the state’s Assembly Districts who have made significant contributions in their local communities.

“I am humbled to receive this honor, especially given the many amazing women in our region. It has been a pleasure serving the people of Solano County, and I will carry this experience with me forever,” said Woman on the Year, Supervisor Linda Seifert. “I’d like to thank Assemblymember Dodd for this honor and recognition. I look forward to continuing to work together as advocates for Solano County.”

Seifert has served on the Solano County Board of Supervisors since 2008, serving as chair for an unprecedented three consecutive terms. Seifert has built a track record of improving recreational services, fighting to preserve agricultural, and supporting critical services to seniors and those in need. She serves in leadership roles on numerous community boards and commissions, including the Solano Land Trust, California State Association of Counties, and Touro University Advisory Board.

“Linda has been a dedicated public servant, and a role model for women looking to become strong community leaders,” said Assemblymember Bill Dodd. “The people of California are fortunate to have strong, caring, and hard-working leaders like her.”

At an early age, Seifert began distinguishing herself in the classroom. After graduating from California State University, Fullerton, she went on to study law at the University of the Pacific’s McGeorge School of Law. She went on to become the first female partner at the McNamara Law Firm in Walnut Creek. In 1997, she was named General Counsel for the non-profit California Dental Association. After retiring from law, Seifert expanded her community volunteerism with groups like the Solano County Library Foundation.

During her time as a Supervisor, Seifert played an instrumental role in preserving 1,800 acres of the Rockville Trails property through the Solano Land Trust and spearheaded renovation of veterans halls in Benicia and Vallejo, along with the development of the Center for Positive Change and the Family Justice Center.  Seifert will continue to serve on the board of supervisors until her current term ends on January 2, 2017.

Assemblymember Bill Dodd represents the 4th Assembly District, which includes all or portions of Solano, Napa, Sonoma, Yolo, Lake, and Colusa Counties.
