Sen. Dodd Lauds Fairfield and Vacaville Police Handling of Standoff

Thursday, January 14, 2021

FAIRFIELD – Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, commended Fairfield and Vacaville police officers today for their handling of an 18-hour-long, armed standoff that ended peacefully with the arrest of a man accused of threatening his parents with a knife.

“The dedicated men and women of the Fairfield and Vacaville police departments did an outstanding job of keeping everyone safe in this potentially dangerous situation,” Sen. Dodd said. “Too often these confrontations that may involve domestic violence or mental health issues can turn violent. But because of the bravery and professionalism of our local law enforcement officers, this incident was resolved peacefully.”

Russell Kultti, 32, of Fairfield, was arrested Wednesday after the overnight standoff that drew SWAT teams from both cities. He was accused of pulling a knife on his parents and confronting officers, before barricading himself in the home.
