CLARKSBURG – Nancy Kirchhoff, a Clarksburg vintner and photographer who became the first female board member of the Clarksburg Fire Protection District, has been named Yolo County Woman of the Year by Sen. Bill Dodd.

“Nancy has served her community with distinction while helping to break barriers for women in fire safety,” Sen. Dodd said. “Her leadership and hard work have paid off in many ways, and we are all better off for it. I’m proud to recognize her for her contribution to this wonderful part of the district.”

“I’m honored to be chosen for this award, especially coming from Sen. Dodd, who has been a fantastic advocate for all of Yolo County and for Clarksburg in particular,” Kirchhoff said. “We have a strong family farming tradition, and I am passionate about supporting our community, whether it is our schools, businesses or firefighters. It’s been a privilege to serve alongside so many dedicated people who are committed to our goal of sharing the beauty and bounty of this incredible agricultural area.”

Kirchhoff grew up in California and lived in Nebraska before moving permanently to the Sacramento River Delta region of Yolo County in 1996. She and her husband, Craig, co-founded Kirchhoff Family Wines, and Nancy Kirchhoff worked for many years as a professional photographer. Nancy was appointed by the Yolo County Board of Supervisors to the Clarksburg fire district board, where she is serving her second term. Previously, she was on the Yolo County General Plan advisory committee.

She has logged countless volunteer hours with the PTA, Future Farmers of America, the Rotary Club and the Delta Heavenly Boosters, who support academic, the arts and athletic programs around Clarksburg. Her three grown children – Clayton, Casey and Emma – are part of the family business as are spouses Lisa and Gabrielle.
