NAPA -- Diane Dillon, a longtime champion of Napa County who served on the Board of Supervisors for 20 years, compiling an impressive record of civic achievement, has been named Napa County Woman of the Year by Sen. Bill Dodd.

“Diane has made an incredible contribution to our community, providing key leadership in good times and bad, including after our devastating wildfires,” Sen. Dodd said. “At the same time, she’s been a pioneer for other professional women, especially those seeking office. I am fortunate to have served alongside Diane and to count her as a friend. It is with great pleasure that I recognize her for her community contributions.”

“It’s a distinct honor for Sen. Dodd to so generously recognize my work and career in Napa County, especially as we worked together as county supervisors for 12 of my 20 years in office,” Diane Dillon said. “My commitments both in and out of office continue to be preventing sprawl, assuring fiscal responsibility and protecting agriculture. I’m proud of working since the 1980s to help elect more women to office and to build stronger foundations for our community to preserve its rich and diverse history and heritage. The greatest satisfaction has always come from collaborating with others on all these efforts -- because no one does anything alone. I am deeply appreciative of this recognition.”

Diane was elected county supervisor in 2002 and retired at the end of 2022. She led the county

through wildfire and earthquake recovery and protecting vital agricultural traditions. She appeared before the Legislature following the 2017 wildfires and helped secure funding for wildfire safety. She was instrumental in forming a partnership with Sonoma County and the city of Santa Rosa to get formalized legal representation before the California Public Utilities Commission. In addition, she has served as a board member of the California State Association of Counties, a 20-year board member and 2011 chair of the Rural County Representatives of California and committee member of other civic organizations.

Diane was an active estate planning attorney for 20 years and an early member of California Women Lawyers. Locally, she is a member of the St. Helena Rotary. She was born and raised in Napa and has a bachelor’s degree from University of California Santa Barbara, a master’s from UCLA and a juris doctor degree from UC Davis, King Hall School of Law.  She lives in St. Helena with her husband. They have two adult sons and six grandchildren.
