Sen. Dodd Legislative Roundup: Senate OKs Five Bills

Friday, June 2, 2023

SACRAMENTO – What do water access, consumer privacy, campaign finance reform, recycling and maternity care have in common? Each is the subject of separate legislation written by Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, that was approved by the Senate this week.

“It’s a privilege to respond to the diverse interests of North Bay constituents with commonsense legislation that addresses the most pressing issues,” Sen. Dodd said. “Whether it’s ensuring the tap stays open for low-income water users or increasing access to midwives, we’ve made it a priority to craft policy that improves lives for Californians. I thank my Senate colleagues for their support.”

“Sen. Dodd continues to be a prolific lawmaker, advancing practical solutions to real problems,” said Rozzana Verder-Aliga, Vallejo’s vice mayor. “Once again this year he’s tackling things that matter most to constituents. Our community is better off for his commitment and hard work.”

The following bills from Sen. Dodd are among those headed to the Assembly after being approved by the Senate this week:

  • Senate Bill 3 Water Shutoff Protection: Expands provisions of Sen. Dodd’s Water Shutoff Protection Act of 2018, ensuring more low-income Californians have uninterrupted access to essential drinking water, especially in times of skyrocketing costs.
  • SB 296 In-Vehicle Cameras: Restricts the use of images and data collected from in-cabin car cameras.
  • SB 328 Campaign Limits: Limits campaign donations in school board and special elections.
  • SB 353 Recycling: Adds large juice containers to the state recycling program; improves the processing of recycling payments.
  • SB 667 Nurse Midwives: Clarifies scope of practice for nurse midwives, ensuring better patient access and care.
