Sen. Dodd: Mike McGuire ‘right person’ to lead Senate
SACRAMENTO – Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, issued the following statement today on the announcement that Sen. Mike McGuire, D-North Coast, will succeed Sen. Toni Atkins, D-San Diego, as Senate President pro Tempore:
“Nobody works harder than Mike McGuire, whom I’ve had the pleasure of knowing since we were both county supervisors,” Sen. Dodd said. “He’s put in the work as majority leader and he’s proven to be an expert at bringing people together to make real headway in Sacramento. He’s also been an incredible partner on wildfire safety and so many of the top issues facing California. Simply put, he’s the right person at the right time.”
Sen. Dodd lauded Sen. Atkins.
“Sen. Atkins has been a trailblazing leader,” Sen. Dodd said. “I’m one of the few to serve with her when she was speaker and pro tem. It’s a reality of term limits that we need to elect a new leader, but her service to the state in the Senate and beyond will continue.”
Senator Bill Dodd represents the 3rd Senate District, which includes all or portions of Napa, Solano, Yolo, Sonoma, Contra Costa, and Sacramento counties. You can learn more about the district and Senator Dodd at www.sen.ca.gov/dodd.
