SACRAMENTO – Gov. Gavin Newsom signed legislation from Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, to streamline the residential insurance claims process for victims of disasters including wildfires.

“Wildfires are causing incredible hardship and the last thing anyone needs is to be jerked around by their insurance company,” Sen. Dodd said. “In the future, when someone files a claim they won’t be buried under mountains of paperwork or suffer unnecessary delay. That isn’t right and this new law will put a stop to it. I thank Gov. Newsom for helping us make this important change.”

SACRAMENTO – With record wildfires driving tens of thousands of Californians from their homes, Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a bill from Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, that would aid in evacuations by authorizing municipalities to use European-style “hi-lo” siren in emergency vehicles.

SACRAMENTO – Facing serious public health concerns about the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on nursing homes, Gov. Gavin Newsom on Tuesday signed a bill from Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, that will allow seniors and people with disabilities to receive care in their homes, improving their lives and reducing their risk of exposure.

SACRAMENTO – Gov. Gavin Newsom today signed a law from Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, to improve horse racing safety across California and build on reforms adopted last year.  

The governor also signed a second horse racing bill, co-authored by Sen. Dodd and Assemblymember Adam Gray, D-Merced,  incorporating recommendations from the California Horse Racing Board.

SONOMA – Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, will host a virtual town hall on emergency preparedness amid the dual challenges of the coronavirus pandemic and record-setting wildfires, providing an update on how the Legislature is addressing these serious problems.

The senator will be joined in the town hall broadcast live on KSVY/Sonoma TV and streamed across multiple channels by a panel of experts who will answer submitted questions and take calls from listeners.

Senate Bill 1237, sponsored by the California Nurse-Midwives Association and Black Women for Wellness, heads next to Gov. Gavin Newsom for a signature.
