WOODLAND - Senator Bill Dodd, D-Napa, released the following statement regarding Governor Gavin Newsom's appointment of Mary Sandy to the Yolo County Board of Supervisors, representing District 3.

SACRAMENTO – Gov. Gavin Newsom has signed a bill from Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, that allows the continuation of an important fundraising tool for nonprofits -- 50-50 raffles at major league sports stadiums.

“Over the years, these raffles have raised millions for a diverse group of charitable organizations throughout the state,” Sen. Dodd said. “They provide an important funding tool for a host of organizations benefiting youth and the underserved. With the governor’s signature on this new law, we can ensure that continues.”

SACRAMENTO – Gov. Gavin Newsom has signed legislation from Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, that will allow the city of Davis to help create endangered species preserves and support climate mitigation projects.

“Davis voters have made clear their desire to preserve endangered species and our precious environment, and Gov. Newsom’s signing of this bill is a big step in that direction,” Sen. Dodd said. “It is a smart use of public land that will protect and enhance our community for generations to come.”

SONOMA – Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa will host a virtual town hall Oct. 3 on California’s wildfire season with leaders from the California Office of Emergency Services and other agencies reporting on the state’s preparedness and prevention efforts.

SACRAMENTO – In appreciation of the critical role the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta plays in California’s economy and environment, Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, is recognizing the last week of September as Delta Week.

SACRAMENTO – The California Legislature approved a measure from Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, to bolster California’s beverage container recycling program, reducing the amount of plastic and glass going into landfills and helping to stabilize the recycling market.

SACRAMENTO – The California Assembly has approved legislation from Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, that would improve broadband and internet connectivity across California by allowing the state to lease its property to providers for deployment of new infrastructure.

“With approval of this bill, the state takes a step closer to being able to use its property to generate revenue while enticing providers to expand their offerings,” Sen. Dodd said. “It will fill in unserved zones and help get high-speed data to those who need it for work, school and home life.”
