Our region was hit harder by last year's wildfires than anywhere else in the state. We saw thousands of homes burn, hundreds of thousands of acres scorched, and the tragic loss of lives. The Tubbs Fire alone was the single most destructive wildfire in state history.

SACRAMENTO – A bill from Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, that improves counties’ ability to plan and deliver infrastructure projects was approved by the Legislature Monday and goes to Gov. Jerry Brown for a signature.

“This is a common-sense measure that grants counties the flexibility they need to build projects in the most efficient manner possible, translating into savings for local government and taxpayers alike,” Senator Dodd said. “It will ensure more timely completion at a higher quality, sparing the public any cost overruns.”

SACRAMENTO – A comprehensive internet privacy and data breach protection bill introduced by Senators Bill Dodd, D-Napa, Bob Hertzberg, D-Van Nuys and Assemblymember Ed Chau, D-Monterey Park, passed the Senate and Assembly on Thursday and was signed into law by Gov. Jerry Brown. Adoption of the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 was followed by the withdrawal of a ballot measure seeking the same protections that would have cost California taxpayers millions of dollars.

“The U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to reject reasoned, decades-old precedent is deplorable. It’s undeniable that unions have contributed immensely to the rights enjoyed by all working men and women across our country. While this is an unfortunate hurdle for working families, I am confident that, in spite of this ruling, the labor movement will redouble efforts to build the middle class and preserve the American Dream.”
