SACRAMENTO – The Legislature today approved a plan from Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, to enable collaboration and innovation between the state Department of Parks and Recreation, universities and researchers.

“I commend my fellow lawmakers for passing this commonsense bill, which will allow researchers to better utilize scientific discoveries made in state parks,” Sen. Dodd said. “This will encourage discovery while allowing California to realize substantial social, ecological and economic benefits.”

SACRAMENTO – The Legislature late Wednesday approved a trio of wildfire-safety bills from Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, that seek to prevent and prepare for the kinds of climate change-driven infernos that have burned across California.

“I thank my fellow lawmakers for making it a priority to address this growing threat to my home district and the entire state,” Sen. Dodd said. “We must be proactive to get a handle on these destructive blazes before they claim more lives and property. These are important steps that will go a long way toward protecting the public.”

SACRAMENTO – In recognition of the critical role the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta plays in California’s economy and environment, the Legislature has passed a resolution from Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, designating the week of Sept. 21 as Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta Week.

SACRAMENTO – The Legislature today approved a wildfire-inspired proposal from Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, that would help low-income people who rely on life-support equipment to receive backup power during electric transmission line de-energization.

“Clearly, we must protect vulnerable people who rely on critical-care equipment as climate change drives up our fire risk,” Sen. Dodd said. “My bill says that before utilities can shut off the power to prevent an inferno, they must develop plans to ensure the health and safety of those who are most defenseless.”
