SACRAMENTO – Gov. Brown signed legislation Friday from Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, that will prevent low-income families from getting their water service terminated.

“Access to water is a fundamental right of all Californians. I thank Gov. Brown for helping to protect it now and for future generations,” Sen. Dodd said. “This new law creates a sustainable and equitable delivery system that will protect vulnerable people including seniors, children and those with illness or disability.”

SACRAMENTO – Gov. Jerry Brown signed legislation from Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, to improve In-Home Supportive Services for low-income and disabled people hit by natural disasters including wildfires.

“Even when disaster strikes, we must continue to care for our most vulnerable populations,” Sen. Dodd said. “This new law brings a statewide approach to the challenge and will ensure a continuity of care for the disabled and elderly. Kudos to Gov. Brown for recognizing the need for it.”

SACRAMENTO – Gov. Jerry Brown signed a bill today from Senator Bill Dodd, D-Napa, requiring newly sold or installed electric garage door openers to be equipped with backup batteries. The new law will prevent people from being trapped in their garages during power failures such as those triggered by recent wildfires.

“Despite heavy insurance industry lobbying, I’m proud to say we have a new law that will help people rebuild their homes quickly and help communities recover,” Senator Dodd said. “I fought for greater reforms and I will continue my efforts to prevent insurance companies from denying policyholders the coverage they’ve paid for and deserve.”

SACRAMENTO – Gov. Jerry Brown has signed a bill from Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, that will allow the Davis Joint Unified School District to waive its district parcel tax for teachers and school district employees, making housing more affordable to them.

“This new law will provide a small but meaningful incentive for public educators and school staff to live in the community of Davis where they work,” Senator Dodd said. “I thank Gov. Brown for recognizing teachers and the critical role they play in supporting their community.”
