SACRAMENTO – The Legislature today approved a bill from Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, that would eliminate the confusion and delays caused by uninformed, out-of-state or multiple insurance adjusters during the 2017 North Bay wildfires.

Senate Bill 240 requires the California Department of Insurance to produce information on the most significant state insurance laws related to disasters and set training standards for agents handling catastrophic events. It also mandates that insurers provide a single point of contact for customers to make processing claims easier.

SACRAMENTO – Legislation from Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, that would allow Napa County to negotiate with the state to buy the 850-acre Skyline Wilderness Park was approved by the Legislature today.

Senate Bill 20 would ensure the prime land with popular hiking trails and views of the Bay Area remains a public open space forever.

“This is such an important community asset, both from a recreational and environmental perspective,” Sen. Dodd said. “We must preserve this land for the public and place it under local control so it remains parkland in perpetuity.”

Sen. Dodd will moderate a panel of experts including Yolo County officials and senior advocates as they discuss healthcare, fraud prevention and other topics affecting elder communities. After the presentations, Sen. Dodd will invite questions from the audience.

SACRAMENTO – The Legislature has approved a bill from Sen. Bill Dodd, D-Napa, that will address the growing problem of college student food insecurity by ensuring low-income students have reliable access to nutritious food through the Cal Fresh program.

“Students shouldn’t have to starve in order to get an education,” Sen. Dodd said. “My bill will ensure students of modest means don’t go hungry by making it easier for them to receive public assistance. Food insecurity is a serious problem on California college campuses today and this is an important step to addressing it.”
