SACRAMENTO, CA – Senator Bill Dodd (D-Napa) introduced legislation on Tuesday to help preserve land and expand recreational opportunities in Solano County. The bill, which is co-authored by Assemblymembers Tim Grayson and Jim Frazier, authorizes the formation of a regional park district in Solano County.

NAPA, CA – Assemblymember Bill Dodd (D-Napa) urged Governor Jerry Brown this week to increase support for farmworker housing in the 2017-18 state budget.

“We need to support our farmworkers, and ensuring access to affordable housing in the communities they work is a crucial part of that,” said Assemblymember Dodd. “California’s agriculture is critical for our economy and preservation of open space and none of it would be possible without our hardworking farmworkers.”

SACRAMENTO –A new law signed by Governor Jerry Brown will provide a quicker resolution process for victims of identity theft and fraud. The bill, also known as the Identity Theft Resolution Act, was authored by Assemblymember Bill Dodd (D-Napa) after becoming a victim of identity theft himself last year. This new law will dramatically reduce the time it takes for victims of identity theft to clear their name, end harassing phone calls, and remove negative credit reporting.

SACRAMENTO – Legislation to help businesses recover from natural disasters recently passed the legislature with unanimous bipartisan support. The bill, authored by Assemblymember Bill Dodd (D-Napa) and Senator Mike McGuire (D-Healdsburg), will provide tax relief by allowing impacted businesses to defer tax payments without additional costs. The idea for the bill was brought forward by Board of Equalization Chairwoman Fiona Ma in the aftermath of the 2015 Valley Fire in Lake County.

SACRAMENTO – A bill by Assemblymember Bill Dodd (D-Napa) and Assemblymember Jim Frazier (D-Oakley) granting a sales tax exemption to the Jimmy Doolittle Center recently passed the legislature with bipartisan support. The bill, AB 724, will give the air and space museum in Vacaville the ability to purchase a fully restored 1932 “Shell Lockheed Vega” flown by General Doolittle himself.

SACRAMENTO, CA – The Equal Pay for Equal Work Act of 2016 by Assemblymember Bill Dodd (D-Napa) passed the state legislature this week with bipartisan support. The Act, also known as Assembly Bill 1890, would ensure companies that do business with the state of California have fair compensation policies and practices that do not unlawfully discriminate based on gender or race. The announcement comes on Women’s Equality Day, which commemorates the certification of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution, guaranteeing women the right to vote.

SACRAMENTO – A bill by Assemblymember Bill Dodd (D-Napa) to help safeguard students and teachers during earthquakes passed the Legislature this week with unanimous bipartisan support. The legislation requires all school districts residing in seismically active areas to ensure that the contents of their classrooms, like heavy bookshelves or hanging light fixtures, comply with state earthquake safety guidelines. In the event of an earthquake, unsecured contents put students and teachers at unnecessary risk of injury or death and can block emergency responders.
