SACRAMENTO – Assemblymember Bill Dodd (D-Napa) introduced new legislation to speed the resolution process for victims of identity theft who find themselves in debt collection. Current law does not require timeframes for debt collectors to investigate claims of identity theft or notify a consumer of the results of that investigation.

SACRAMENTO – Assemblymember Bill Dodd (D-Napa) introduced new legislation that would help create a more robust water market and improve the ability of the state to meet the growing demand for water supply reliability and healthy ecosystems. The bill, known as the Open and Transparent Water Data Act, would create a water transfer information clearinghouse providing a platform for which water data is shared across the state. This marks an important first step to move California toward a more effective and flexible water management system.

SACRAMENTO – Assemblymember Bill Dodd (D-Napa) recently introduced new legislation to expand the Home Care Services Consumer Protection Act to safeguard seniors and disabled people by requiring background checks for in-home care aides. Currently, agencies that refer in-home care aides to seniors are not required to see if those aides have a criminal background.

SACRAMENTO – Assemblymember Bill Dodd (D-Napa) and Senator Mike McGuire (D-Healdsburg) introduced Assembly Bill 1559, which will provide tax relief to businesses impacted by the Valley Fire and future disasters. The idea was brought forward by Fiona Ma, Lake County’s representative on the Board of Equalization (BOE).

SACRAMENTO, CA – Governor Jerry Brown signed legislation jointly authored by Assemblymember Bill Dodd (D-Napa) and several other legislators to protect small business owners who operate franchises. The bill was supported by a coalition of franchise owners and employee advocacy groups who reached a historic compromise with the association representing the major corporate chains.

SACRAMENTO, CA – Assemblymember Bill Dodd’s (D-Napa) bill to provide low-income water rate assistance has been signed into law by Governor Jerry Brown. With the passage of Assembly Bill 401, the State Water Resources Control Board must now establish the framework for California’s first ever statewide water rate assistance program for low-income residents.

SACRAMENTO, CA – Assemblymember Bill Dodd’s (D-Napa) low-income water rate assistance bill passed the state legislature with bipartisan support. The bill, Assembly Bill 401, calls on the State Water Resources Control Board to create a plan for establishing the state’s first statewide water rate assistance program for low-income residents in California. The bill now heads to Governor Jerry Brown who has one month to sign the legislation.
